Katie’s Teaview Snapshot
"Yet again, Simpson & Vail's flavouring is spot on, and this time the tea itself comes through very effectively."
| |||||||||
The biggest downside to the last flavoured tea I had from Simpson & Vail was the tea they used for the base, so I was immediately excited to see the broad green leaves of this blend. The S & V website doesn't have this tea listed at the time I'm writing this review, so I have no direction on what exactly is in this blend (such as if it's real vs. artificial flavouring and what kind of flower petals decorate the leaves. I'm going to guess marigold) or how to best steep it. When in doubt, I find 3 minutes is often a safe bet, so I went with that at 180 degrees.The tea smells strong and sweet, just as you'd expect from a good fruity green. The flavour is creamy and pear, a refreshing switch from the several pear-flavoured teas I have tried that tasted nothing like the fruit. Yet again, Simpson & Vail's flavouring is spot on, and this time the tea itself comes through very effectively.
This is an exquisitely-blended tea, and while I don't know exactly what it costs, they seem to have very reasonable prices elsewhere at svtea.com, so this is mostly likely quite affordable. This is easily one of the best and most accessible flavoured greens I have ever had, and I firmly recommend it to anyone who likes pear, flavoured teas, or blindly following the advice of tea bloggers.

You are funny. I had this and I didn’t like it because there was too much pear and I thought it was a bit not quite natural.
Having said that, I do love S&V teas, this just was not to my taste, I like Libre-teas much better.
My Rating:

5/10

Thanks as always, Stephen!
This is the perfect example of why it’s best to retry teas after a few days (especially flavoured teas for me). I remember not being wowed by it the first time – it just didn’t have a very memorable flavour or anything. Awhile later I tried it again, and I had a whole new opinion. Not sure why, but it takes me about a week to really pin down how I feel about most flavoured teas.
