I walked in on my roommate today adding water to his powdered iced tea drink mix, and as I am apt to do, I immediately thought how much better it'd be if it was real iced tea when I remembered I had some peach tea sitting around to review. Since it's freezing outside, I'm not particularly fond of the idea of a cold beverage, so for now I drink this hot, steeped with boiling water for three minutes.This first steep smells very little like tea and rather like that peach drink mix my roommate was just prepping, which while completely unrealistic, is still appealing. The flavour parallels the scent rather effectively. It comes across as mostly unrealistic, but delicious nonetheless. Tavalon chose an excellent base tea that shines through the added flavour reasonably well, though I would have preferred it to be a bit more present. Overall, it is a good cup, but not so different that it stands out particularly well.
The second steep, made in the same way, is somewhat more distinguishable. The peach flavour is partly subdued, allowing the base tea to show its colours more fully. I prefer the latter steep with the calmer appeal overall. If the tea had originally tasted like this, I would have been more enamoured. By the end of cup number two, I am tired of the extensively-sweet (though delightful) tea, so I will not be attempting a third steep.
If you want a real version of that crazy-sweet fake peach iced tea, this is right on the money, but I prefer fake raspberry iced tea. While this is good, I'm not finding it amazing.
