If ever there was a tea that was appropriately named, Autumn Harvest is it. Just a whiff of this tea conjures up images of fall foliage and warm apple pie. When I drink this tea, I imagine that, even though I live south of Miami, that it is a brisk fall day and I am bundled up in a sweater. The ingredients in this caffeine-free tea are rooibos, sweet apple pieces, lemon grass, cinnamon, and rosehips. The rooibos is a perfect base for the addition of apples and cinnamon which are basically what this blend is all about. The flavor is warming and rich and just plain delicious. In some weird way, the flavor of this tea is very similar to the apple-cinnamon flavored Cream of Wheat cereal that I grew up eating. I don't necessarily taste the lemon grass or the rosehips individually, but I do see how they contribute to the overall "zing" of this blend, and while I can't pick out their flavors I do feel I would miss them if they weren't included in the blend. The apples provide natural sweetness so there really is no need to add sugar to this blend. I did not add milk to my sample, but I imagine that if you wanted to make this a rich and filling dessert tea, a splash of milk would be good.Of all of the Boston Tea Company teas that I have sampled so far, I would have to say that this one is by far my favorite. A tin containing 130 grams of this tea is just under $15, which works out to less than a quarter per cup (if you use 2g of the tea per cup, as their website suggests). In all, this is a great blend and one that I will consider buying as autumn approaches.
