I can’t think of a time that I ever considered turning down a cup of Yunnan. It’s just one of those teas that I could drink, regardless of time of day, season, mood, or any other factor. So naturally, I jumped at the chance to review Yunnan Golden Tips from California Tea House. This is the first tea from California Tea House that I have sampled, although based on this experience and the appearance of the other CTH samples awaiting my review, I have to say that this company appears to be a fine one. Now, on to the tea. The dry leaves are long and wiry with, as to be expected, a golden-yellowish color. I smelled the dry leaves and then the infused leaves, and my reaction was the same to both: I thought to myself, “this is going to be a great cup of tea”. And luckily for me, it turns out that I was right. This tea is slightly sweet, slightly malty, slightly peppery, and entirely delicious. There was just the smallest hint of creaminess to the aftertaste. Quite simply, this is what black tea should be. I had not even finished my first cup and I found myself craving a second. I sometimes add a splash of milk to my Yunnan, but I found that adding anything to this tea would be wrong, very wrong indeed. This tea was excellent on its own. I will be ordering some of this tea for myself and will surely recommend this to any Yunnan lover. Bottom line: an exquisite representation of Yunnan tea and a superb tea overall. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up on this one!

Ka-ching! Yep, there’s another hit on my bank account. If you and Dan give it 10s it’s a must try. I reviewed, then bought, their Golden Monkey Paw and have been loving it. Brewing two tablespoons at a time just kills me, but it really makes the difference with these teas. Luckily you can get a second cup out of it. Sounds like you can with this one, too. So good!

I ordered some of this after Dan’s review along with some of their Golden Monkey Paw. Both are absolutely delicious and have become the teas I currently crave on a daily basis!
