Thumbs up!"Fruit-flavored teas are possibly the least manly of the lot, but I'm generally a sucker for blueberry teas, and I have many favored blueberry blends. However, I think I just found a new favorite in that category."

bostonblueberrykiwiBoston Tea Co. is striving for the health angle with this delicious white tea blend. White tea is considered very healthy due to its low caffeine level, anti-viral qualities, high catechin levels, and various other healthful properties. The addition of dried blueberries to the mix plays up the antioxidant angle, while the kiwifruit additive provides various carotenoids, vitamins, antioxidants, and more. Rather than expand this review into a sermon on health, I'll leave it at that and continue on about the actual layman properties.

The base white tea in this blend is of Chinese origin, although to my untrained eye/palette, I'm unsure whether it is a Bai Mu Dan, Shou Mei, or Gong Mei, but my guess is it's one of those three. The scent of the dried leaf is impossibly fantastic - a fluffy cloud-aroma of blueberry pillows with a beautiful white tea scent on the nose right behind it. It's a wonderful mix of aromas that are perfect together. It also has me skeptical as to the level of "naturalness" -- is it even possible to get this aroma from all-natural ingredients? The blend is also "lightly scented with meadow-grown malva flower petals" - I'm unsure how this plays into the flavor or scent, but if it's part of the recipe, it begs for more exploration.

I kept with a 3 minute brew on this blend, which produces an ultra-clear cup, barely tinged the slightest golden hue. The aroma in the cup is almost as exquisite as that of the dried blend - a seemingly impossible feat to translate so much bold aroma to the cup. The taste matches perfectly as well - beautiful blueberry flavor rides on top. If this is artificial, I don't care, because the flavor is delectable. It's blueberry all the way, but concentration on the undertone flavors does reveal the kiwifruit notes. The white tea is prominent as well, and an occasional gentle spice comes through on the palette. A natural, honey-like sweetness is present as well.

Fruit-flavored teas are possibly the least manly of the lot, but I'm generally a sucker for blueberry teas, and I have many favored blueberry blends. However, I think I just found a new favorite in that category.
