According to Tea Forte's website, their lemon ginger herbal blend is a mix of lemon balm and ginger. However, when I examined the contents of my tea pyramid sample, I am about 99.9999% sure that this tea is a blend of ginger and lemon grass, not lemon balm. And I don't say this to be picky or get caught up in details; it's just that to me lemon balm and lemon grass have entirely different flavors. Anyway, this tea is a pale yellow liquid with a strong and soothing aroma. The ginger is more noticeable than the lemon, scentwise, but both are easily detectable. The initial hit of this tea is an intense ginger, but after a few sips, the contribution of the lemon grass comes through more and more. While there is a rather intense ginger flavor, the tea avoids the harsh bite that ginger can sometimes deliver because the lemongrass balances out the ginger's zing. The lemongrass seems to add a sweetness to the strong ginger and the taste is comparable to gingersnap cookies. Overall, the result is a smooth and refreshing which I enjoyed both hot and cold. The tea is rather light-bodied, and even though the ginger and lemon flavors are fairly strong, the tea is not too pungent. Lemon-ginger blends are fairly common and there are many tea merchants that offer this blend. Tea Forte's is a really nice offering of this blend and one I would recommend, particularly for those that like ginger flavor but don't necessarily want an over-the-top spicy kick.
