I get the impression that Tea Forté's teabags are a high-class venture. They contain high-quality teas and are packed in fancy designer teabags, and they come with a bit of a designer price tag. As usual, the cheap-o in me was pretty skeptical that a tea on this end of the price scale would end up in my "to buy" list, but I changed my mind after the first few sips.I steeped this in 175 degree water for 5 minutes then poured that over ice. The tea smells complex and realistically like pear. Overall, I find the flavour interesting, unique, and most importantly, delicious. Normally my husband downs gallons of tea without comment, but after a few sips of this he declared how delicious it was and how sad it is that we had so little. The ginger adds a touch of spice without overpowering any of the other flavours, and the tea as a whole is well-balanced and unlike any other cup I've had.
But as usual I have to pause in my praising this blend to raise a couple of concerns: If you're looking for the white tea in this blend, you will be disappointed. Such a mild tea can't stand up to all the (albeit awesome) flavours. Personally, I don't care that the white tea doesn't shine here because this is just so darn good, and it is admittedly labeled as a white tea-herbal infusion, so clearly the leaf isn't the focus. The other problem I have with this tea is mild and easily solved: I think I would really just prefer a loose leaf version of this tea. Thankfully, they have a canister of loose leaves available for purchase - yay! I probably wouldn't buy these teabags, but I'd definitely buy the loose leaf version of this tea.
