Being a cold and blustery night, I wanted to a flowery tea to fool my senses into thinking that it is a summer eve. Narien Teas Jasmine Pearls sounded and smelled just perfect for my mood. Since green teas are still rather new to me, I headed for their website to get brewing instructions. I did find out quite a bit about this tea but was unable to find any instructions. So I pretty much guessed and all turned out well.This tea is very aptly named. The tea when dry does look like pearls with a strong jasmine scent. In fact, the scent is strong enough that my husband wondered if I was running a bath using my jasmine bath salts. I ended up using 3.5 grams of tea for my 12 ounce mug. I also used a cooler water that I let come almost to a boil and then cool for about 5 minutes. This is one tea that I do recommend brewing in a glass teapot as the tea leaves put on quite the show as they unravel from their little balls and dance about the pot. The taste is excellent. The jasmine scent remains strong, so strong in fact that you can almost taste it. There is a slight oily feel to the tea that remains behind leaving a lingering sweetness.
Despite my frustration at the lack of instructions, this is one tea that I highly recommend. At only on $25 for five ounce or $54 a pound, this is one tea that I will be picking up. Narien Teas has a variety of teas and offers sample sizes of all of them. They also have tea seeds for sale for any wanting to grow their own.
