Organic Cinnamon Plum is rich with currants, succulent hibiscus, hints of plum and accented with notes of cinnamon and naturally sweet licorice root. Warm and soothing, Organic Cinnamon Plum is deliciously fruity and full-bodied with a deep red infusion. Perfect served hot, iced or brewed as mulled tea.Opening up my sample which arrived in a vacuum sealed pouch complete with directions for brewing, I am immediately presented with an aroma that brings back the memories of my gram preparing plum puddings for christmas. Examining the sample, it is easy to pick out the currents, the dried hibiscus and the bits of cinnamon stick. Rishi didn’t stint on any of the ingredients for this tincture. I was unable to resist sampling a bit of current. Delicious!
I brewed up my sample of Organic Cinnamon Plum using boiling water and 1 ½ teaspoon of tea. Suggested brewing time was 5 minutes but I got a phone call and lost track of time. It ended up actually brewing for 8 minutes. One thing I really love about the herbal teas is that over-brewing doesn’t tend to bring out a bitterness and I wasn’t able to find any in this tea. The taste is delightful, both sweet and tangy. I was able to pick out the taste of the currents, the cinnamon and the plums. The hibiscus alluded me entirely. Though even without the hibiscus making a showing, this is a tangy tea due to the currents.
I also made up some iced tea using Organic Cinnamon Plum and I really can’t decide which I prefer. The plum taste is stronger in the iced version. This is just a good all around caffeine free drink. It also get kudos in my book for being organic. Rishi Tea is also donating 25% of their profits off this tea to the Clean Water Fund. This is one charity that we should all get behind as a tea is only as good as the water we use.
