Coffeewiz.com isn't exactly the first place I would have thought to turn to for purchasing tea, but as it turns out, this website offers a large variety of coffee and tea products. I have to admit that I found the website layout a bit clunky, as it forces you to check boxes of desired product types, brands, formats, etc. and then the page reloads with each click to narrow down access what you want. Golden Ceylon is my first exposure to Jaf Tea as well to Coffeewiz.com. The first thing I noticed about this tea was the large size of the leaves. I am used to seeing black tea leaves smaller than this, simply because they are usually more prone to breaking and withering than are their less-oxidized counterparts. These leaves managed to remain in whole-leaf status and unrolled nicely during infusion. The tea was a rich reddish color, but seemed to get a little darker as the tea sat in my teacup. When taken as a very hot beverage, I found this tea offered a combination of cocoa and fruity flavors. After letting the temperature of the tea cool down a few degrees, I noted a more even balance of fruit and malty flavors. The first time I prepared this tea, there was this astringent tartness to the tea, however it was noticeably absent on the second round; keep an eye on the infusion time to make sure the tea is prepared to your likings. I didn't find the addition of milk and/or sugar necessary to this tea when it was taken hot. Even though a somewhat cool autumn breeze is finally starting to hit South Florida, I found this tea was also delicious in iced form, although I would recommend a small amount of sugar for the iced tea version. I have to say I managed to finish this tea fairly quickly, and this is something I would consider purchasing for myself. As far as balancing quality with affordability, this tea is a great option.
