|"A review of the extremely delicious American Tea Room's Tangier tea."|
Steep 1 - Color is a medium black, slightly brown color. Smells predominantly of apricot with wafts of honey and citrus. The taste is slightly tart and slightly astringent; not bad qualities at all. It is wonderfully refreshing. It is not overly fragrant with apricot but it's not lacking it either. Definitely well blended. I can definitely concur with their recommendation of having this either hot or iced. This would be a fantastic iced tea.
Steep 2 - Color is a lighter black, more of a burnt sienna. The apricot smell is lessened and the tea really starts to pull through. The astringency from the tea and the slight tartness from the apricot is gone but the apricot flavor is still there. Not as pronounced though. The black tea comes more into its own right, coming through with a lemon/lime and slightly roasted quality. Nice to see that the base tea is of good quality. A lot of blenders wouldn't go the extra length to use quality tea on a flavored blend.
Overall, a very nice tea. The balance between the apricot and the black tea qualities is skillfully done and makes for an excellent cup. Definitely a must-try.
