After trying this a few days ago, I was beginning to feel defeated. I had an impossible time drawing much flavour out. I e-mailed Boston Tea Company directly, and a few days later I tried again with specific guidelines and a fresh palate.I steeped two teaspoons of leaf in seven ounces of 175-degree water for four minutes, which is pretty much what I thought I was doing before. With my clear head, the tea still came across roughly the same. The flavouring is good, but I feel like it could have been great. Cherry green teas are generally one of my favourite flavoured blends, so I thought a white would excel even more.
After spending the rest of the day drinking 12 cups of a pu-erh, my palate was ready for something new. I was pessimistic about a second infusion of this blend since the first had such a demure character, but I saw the used leaves and knew it'd be unfair not to try. I let it steep for five minutes, and wow. I'm not sure what happened, but this infusion tastes perfectly balanced, fruity, and sweet. The white tea base is again tough to pick out, but overall this cup is a delicious, fun blend, perfect for when I'm in the mood for something relatively simple.
So this leaves me with somewhat of a strange situation: I didn't really dig this tea's first steep, but I found the second compelling. I guess it evens out overall to a good blend, but one I'm not particularly excited about.
