A cloudy Northwest fall day is the perfect time for taste of mint to clear away the cobwebs. Wandering thru my sample drawer, I came across Citrus Mint from Tea Forte’ which was exactly what the doctor ordered. My sample came to me in their signature pyramid infuser but it is also available as a loose tea which is a more economical way to enjoy this herbal offering. I have in past reviews talked about the infuser so I won’t bore with you repeating the details other than to say that it is unique and perfect for parties.Opening up the little box that my infuser came in, I am immediately greeted by the smell of peppermint with an underlying hint of citrus. In checking out Tea Forte’s website, I discover that their Citrus Mint consists of only two ingredients; peppermint and lemon peel which fits perfectly with the aroma. I brewed up the infusion using 208 degree water and I let it steep for about 6 minutes. The website calls for 4 minutes but my dogs decided otherwise. Once brewed, I am able to get more of a citrusy aroma with the mint taking the back seat. The liquor itself is very clear with fairly light body. The taste is a blend of the mint for clarity with the lemon peel adding just a hint of tartness to wake up the palette. The taste is weaker then I prefer though and that is even with me steeping it longer then called for.
I enjoyed the blend of flavors but I don’t think that I would purchase this tea for my personal stash as I really prefer a stronger mint tea. It would be perfect though for tea drinkers that enjoy a lighter taste. I will be looking for teas with this combination in the future so I want to thank Tea Forte’ for opening my eyes to possibility of this blend.
