Katie’s Teaview Snapshot
"It is somewhat in-your-face for a white tea but still very delicate."
|
I recalled this tea smelling like heaven (it is called White Cloud, after all), so I guessed this would either be delicious or a big let-down; in other words, interesting. I put two heaping teaspoons in a cup, noting that there seemed to be far more buds than leaves in my sample, a good start to the tea. After three minutes in 180 degree water, the pale yellow liquor smells brothy and very rich for a white tea. Likewise, while the tea has only a light-medium body, it is still much bolder than I would expect from a bud-heavy tea. The tea is sweet and smooth, slightly vegetal with the smallest hint of leeks. It is somewhat in-your-face for a white tea but still very delicate.
The second infusion, also left for three minutes, was somewhat floral, less vegetal, and still extremely good. Infusion three, steeped for five minutes, was extremely delicate and mellow, more sweet than anything else, and still flavourful enough to be good.
I definitely enjoyed this experience - Narien tends not to disappoint. I don't think it is terribly unique, but at $9 for two ounces, it feels unreasonably inexpensive. If ordering from Narien, if you have any love for white teas, you should definitely buy this.
