Thumbs up!"The raspberry flavor is probably the best that I have encountered in an herbal blend. It straddles a fine line between tasting very natural and almost tasting like someone stirred a teaspoon of raspberry sauce that might accompany a dessert, such as cheesecake, into my cup."

forteraspberrynectar"Luscious, succulent raspberries highlight this ruby red hibiscus flower infusion. Pleasantly tart and extraordinarily sweet." ---Tea Forte website.

Lately it seems as though there have been a string of teas that have crossed my tea cup that contain hibiscus and, by and large, the majority have been too tart for me. In fact, I have begun to question whether I should even drink or review blends that contain hibiscus (especially when paired with rosehips) because it seems as though I seldom happy with the result. I simply find that hibiscus when used with a heavy hand is too tart for me even with a dose of sweetener added. I usually find that I only enjoy hibiscus as an iced drink and even then it often requires a dose of sugar and is sometimes too tart. That said, I do have a couple of blends in my stash that contain hibiscus and are quite delicious---at least as an iced beverage with a dose of sugar. Then along comes Tea Forte with this Raspberry Nectar Herbal...

While Tea Forte makes an iced version of this, the sample that I have is meant to be prepared as a hot drink. I boiled some water and infused the clever little pyramid sachet into my cup, which already had a pinch of sugar waiting in the bottom of it. If you have yet to check out Tea Forte's tea pyramid sachet, they are a presentation to behold. These are a step up from 'bagged' tea and they also offer most of their blends in loose leaf form as well. A quick check of the ingredients on the website shows that this contains hibiscus, rosehip, apple, blackberry leaves, raspberries, orange peel, flavoring, and citric acid. While I already knew that this blend contained the dreaded hibiscus and rosehips, I was still concerned about my possible unenjoyment of the blend.

To my pleasant surprise, this is delicious----even as a hot drink. The raspberry flavor is probably the best that I have encountered in an herbal blend. It straddles a fine line between tasting very natural and almost tasting like someone stirred a teaspoon of raspberry sauce that might accompany a dessert, such as cheesecake, into my cup. There is a bit of tartness, but it doesn't cross the line into that area that I find to be a bit harsh. In fact, the tartness is what gives this a more natural raspberry flavor. Since this is a very dessert-like herbal drink, I decided to add a splash of fat free cream to it when I got to the bottom of my cup. The dairy took this into another very pleasant creamy raspberry direction. YUM!

You can add this to a growing number of blends from Tea Forte that are very well done including their White Ginger Pear and Coco Truffle. I imagine that the iced version of this is wonderful as well. All of these blends have received high praise from me and are on a growing list of teas that I eventually want to purchase from Tea Forte. The one drawback to placing an order from Tea Forte is that their offerings are a bit on the pricey side. Here's to hoping that they have a great holiday sale this year!
