Thumbs up!"Milk oolongs seem to be a hot thing these days and this one would be a good choice for those looking for what I would call Milk Oolong Lite (skim milk oolong-haha). It has all the components (floral, fruity, creamy, buttery), but they are a bit more sutle than what I have experienced with some other offerings---including others that I also believe to be au natural. naiveteagoldenlilyThe increasingly popular "milk" oolong known for its subtle milky flavor. It is produced by a very small high altitude artisan tea farm that follows traditional and organic farming practices. Fruity aroma with a hint of pineapple." ---Naivetea website.

Golden Lily aka Jin Xuan aka Milk Oolong has to be my absolute favorite of all oolongs. It is green, a little floral, a little fruity, and most of all buttery and creamy. Some even have attributes that taste almost like sweet cream and are absolutely amazing. One thing to be sure of is that there are a number of natural 'milk' oolongs on the market, but there are also a number that contain what I believe to be a bit of flavoring to enhance that milky, sweet cream flavor. As a flavored tea junkie, I have to admit that I do not care if my 'milk' oolong is flavored a touch if it results in a delicious cup. However, you have to hand it to Mother Nature and some skillful oolong processing when this delicious creamy, buttery taste results without adding any flavoring. I believe that this offering from Naivetea is au natural and has no flavorings added. Although with as good as Naivetea is at skillful scenting and flavoring, I might suggest that I would like to see them come out with a sweet cream oolong or something to that effect (hint, hint).

After experimenting a bit with brewing parameters, I found that I enjoyed this best using water that had been brought to steaming with a 1 minute infusion time. The resulting cup does have all of things that I love about milk oolongs. It is a little floral and there is a bit of fruit in the flavor profile, but I don't know that I would pinpoint it as pineapple. It leaves behind a creamy mouthfeel and has a bit of the buttery flavor to it that I love. However, some of the other varieties that I have tried have been super buttery and left a much creamier mouthfeel behind. My second infusion was also good, and perhaps a bit more fruity. The buttery flavor and creamy mouthfeel were still there, but more subdued. I don't want to imply that this is not very good because it is. I just would not call it my favorite Golden Lily aka Jin Xuan aka Milk Oolong.

Milk oolongs seem to be a hot thing these days and this one would be a good choice for those looking for what I would call Milk Oolong Lite (skim milk oolong-haha). It has all the components (floral, fruity, creamy, buttery), but they are a bit more subtle than what I have experienced with some other offerings---including others that I also believe to be au natural. This one requires more careful contemplation. I would also recommend experimenting with brewing parameters as I prepared this 3 different ways and got somewhat different results with each cup. Overall, this is a good tea, but not one that I am likely to splurge on at $31 for 1.75 oz can.
