According to CTH's website, Budda Hand oolong tea gets its name from the large leaves from which it is derived. And when they say large, they mean it. The leaves of oolong teas are typically of decent size, but this tea contained the biggest leaves I have seen yet, in any kind of tea. One leaf was so big it was easily bigger than the palm of my hand. You have to respect a tea like that! The tea brews to a clear, yellow liquid with an aroma that is equal parts flower, butter, and nuts. The tea had a broth-like quality , mildly astringency, and a lingering flowery finish; in all, a surprisingly tasty oolong that also featured many qualities of green tea. At first, I wasn't sure about this tea, but the more I drank it, the more I realized that this is a pretty good cup of tea, even though it was the furthest thing from what I had been expecting. To me, this tea was much smoother after the tea cooled to room temperature than when taken immediately after infusing. The CTH website notes that this tea is good for two to three infusions. I found that the second infusion was weaker than I hoped it would be, so I didn't attempt a third infusion. Still, in all, this is an enjoyable and complex tea and one I would recommend for those looking for an oolong that deviates from the standard oolong fare. This tea comes at a very affordable price making it one that is worth purchasing to give it a try.
