"In my opinion, the Sencha is the true star of the show. It is mildly vegetal, smooth, creamy, full bodied, slightly bitter and even a tad buttery!! The Sencha used in this blend is definitely of a higher quality than what you are going to find in most flavored green tea blends."

"In this blend, sencha the color of nori is flecked with brilliantly colored marigold blossoms. Juicy, thick scents of candied peaches and ripe passion fruit give this ethereal, misty yellow brew an almost palpable aroma. The infusion’s delicately grassy and richly fruity flavor gives way to a clean aftertaste with light astringency and lingering passion fruit notes." ---American Tea Room website.I am probably Teaviews' resident flavored tea junkie. Not that a number of the other reviewers don't enjoy flavored tea blends, or that I don't love some pure teas (oolongs, yunnans, golden monkey specifically). When I drink a pure tea on my own time, I usually only go for the pretty high quality stuff. Therefore, I feel like I get the best of all worlds when I find that my flavored tea is made with both high quality leaves and ingredients. I am finding that American Tea Room is one of those companies that I can look to deliver these type of leaves and tea blends.
Immortal Peach contains lots of marigold shreds amongst the Sencha leaves and appears to be very fresh. The aroma is strong and smells primarily of peaches rather than passionfruit. While the peach aroma leans towards being more like candy peaches, there is also something about it smells quite juicy. It smells delicious! One thing about this blend is that it requires careful attention when you prepare it. American Tea Room suggests 175 degree water temp and a 2 min infusion time, and this is one where you might want to break out the thermometer and timer to make sure you get it right. Sencha is a fairly fickle tea when it comes to preparation and it bitters easily. However, when you get the preparation right this is a darn tasty cup.
While the peach aroma was rather strong coming from the dry leaves, the actual flavor profile is much more balanced in the prepared cup, which is probably a good thing. In my opinion, the Sencha is the true star of the show. It is mildly vegetal, smooth, creamy, full bodied, slightly bitter and even a tad buttery!! The Sencha used in this blend is definitely of a higher quality than what you are going to find in most flavored green tea blends. The flavor profile is primarily of peaches, but tastes less candy-like than the aroma suggested. The peach is a very nicely done peach flavor that is pure and juicy. Something about the creamy, butteryness of the Sencha and that sweet peach taste made this a delicious and satisfying cup that reminds of a unique dessert. While I didn't pick up on too much passionfruit, I suspect that I might notice its absence if it wasn't added to blend.
While it took me a couple of tries to get my preparation right, the ultimate result was worth all the fussing. The real show stopper in this one for me is the Sencha, and I don't really even like Sencha. Those rich buttery notes were unexpected and delicious. They married nicely with the peach flavor to make a skillfully blended cup. Lucky for me, there is enough left in my sample for at least one more cup! In my opinion, $10.20 for 2 oz of this is a steal! I have not stopped thinking about it since trying it.
