Vanessa’s Teaview Snapshot
|"A fairly lively brew and not a bad representative of a Darjeeling second flush tea. I picked up on flavors of muscadine, grains, smokiness and a little sweetness in the aftertaste."|
This tea greeted me with a clean aroma that had both muscadine and woodsy notes. Appearance-wise, this tea seems to be a fairly high-quality brew, which, I might note, is something I have come to expect from the good folks at California Tea House. This tea has a pure flavor that is not too intense, but certainly would never qualify as subtle. When concentrating, I picked up on flavors of muscadine, grains, smokiness and a little sweetness in the aftertaste. When not concentrating, I simply enjoyed the well-rounded and full flavor of this tea. I would describe this tea as a medium-bodied tea. The second infusion was mostly similar to the first, although I detected a bit of astringency resulting from the longer infusion time. While the muscadine flavor was more pronounced in the second infusion, the other flavor elements were far less noticeable compared to their presence in the first infusion. In all, this was a fairly lively brew and not a bad representative of a Darjeeling second flush tea. This tea lacked the in-your-face flowery-fruitiness that is sometimes found in Darjeelings, particularly first flushes. I personally found this tea to be quite enjoyable and is something I would consider for purchase.
