bostonblueberrykiwiI’ve learned that blueberry flavored teas are hit or miss for me. Lucky for me, Boston Tea Company’s Blueberry Kiwi White Tea is a sure winner. This tea is a combination of Chinese white tea (Bai Mu Dan, if I had to guess), blueberry, kiwi, and Malva flowers petals. I was pleased to read that the fruit flavorings are natural. The tea is attractive in that it consists of large pieces of broken tea leaves mixed with large purple Malva flower petals (is a type of flower I had never heard of before, but adds an elegant touch to the tea). The scent of this tea is just what I hoped it would be. The blueberry scent is clearly present but is not overly strong so as to mask the distinct white tea aroma that I’ve come to love. The flavor of this tea is truly enjoyable for a similar reason. The nutty and earthy white tea intermingles with blueberry and subtle floral flavors in a way that made me smack my lips in enjoyment. I couldn’t detect the specific flavor of the kiwi, as that’s always been a flavor that eludes my taste buds, but I would venture to guess that the kiwi provided that touch of sweetness that balanced out the tart blueberry flavor. I ended up being quite impressed with this tea. Because white tea is a rather delicate tea, I feared that the blueberry flavor would overwhelm the tea; but in this case, the fruit and flower flavors are not only natural, but perfectly balanced to complement rather than overpower the tasty white tea. This is definitely a tea worth trying, and one I would recommend.
