Thumbs up!"the flavor of this tea was dominated by sweet fruitiness, something I would compare to the tropical fruit punch flavors of candy and kid-friendly beverages. I am not sure how much the aloe vera contributes to this tea, but nonetheless, this tea is a flavorful blend that will probably appeal to a wide audience."

teapalacesenchaaloeWhile I am familiar with aloe vera for its sunburn-relief properties, I have never consumed it before and didn't know what to expect. Naturally, I was initially very surprised at the very sweet and fruity fragrance emanating from my sample of the Tea Palace's Aloe Vera Sencha. However, once I realized that the tea contained not only aloe vera, but also dried bits of pineapple, the sweet aroma made more sense. I love pineapple, but must say that I was caught off-guard to find it in this blend (Side note: it is a pet peeve of mine when the name of a tea doesn't really fit the ingredients list). Upon closer inspection of the blend, I couldn't really see any pieces of aloe vera, but truthfully, I do not know if I would really be able to recognize them amongst the sencha leaves.
Like the aroma, the flavor of this tea was dominated by the sweet fruitiness, something I would compare to the tropical fruit punch flavors of candy and kid-friendly beverages. The flavor was more of a general fruitiness than a specific pineapple flavor; even though I knew that the tea was only flavored with pineapple, I still sensed a more general fruit flavor. The tea was very sweet on its own. I am not sure if I could taste the aloe vera because a) the fruit flavor was very strong and b) I am not sure what aloe vera tastes like. The sencha used in this blend is a great choice for the base of a fruit-flavored blend because it is mild and not at all bitter. In fact, due to my attempts at multi-tasking, I ended up steeping this tea for a few minutes more than I intended, but the tea was still quite mild without a hint of stringency. In all, I am not sure how much the aloe vera contributes to this tea, but nonetheless, this tea is a flavorful blend that will probably appeal to a wide audience..
