Thumbs up!"While I cannot say that this tastes strongly like wine, it does leave a wine-like aftertaste in your mouth at certain temperatures. This truly is an elegant and delicious cup that I suspect that wine lovers and tea lovers alike would enjoy. "

redleafpinksonoma"We are proud to introduce our newest wine-infused tea, the Pink Sonoma! Thoroughly saturated with the flavor of a light cabernet, Pink Sonoma is based on the sweetness of a strong white tea. We have given this base a powerful floral aroma and body by adding a good measure of rose petals, as well as a light touch of jasmine." ---Red Leaf Tea website.

After trying Red Leaf Tea's Champagne Infused White Raspberry Tea and loving it, I was excited to sample this Pink Sonoma, which is a wine infused white tea. The wine of choice is a light cabernet. While the dry leaves of the champagne infused blend have an aroma that grabs you and commands your attention, the Pink Sonoma's dry leaves are a bit more reserved. They do smell like grapes and even a bit like wine. In all, it smells delicious.

While I had some reservations about the suggested brewing parameters for this blend, I followed Red Leaf Tea's advice and infused the leaves in boiling water and infused for a bit over 2 min. However, my reservations were for naught because the cup is exquisite. The flavor profile is not unlike that of the champagne infused blend. However, this blend is possibly more balanced in terms of the white tea and the flavor profile. The white tea is of a very nice quality and this also tastes fairly grapey. Despite the addition of rose petals and jasmine, this is floral, but not not overly floral, and I could taste neither rose nor jasmine in this blend as a stand-alone ingredient. The white tea is a just slightly dry, but maybe not as much as you might expect from a wine infused tea blend. While I cannot say that this tastes strongly like wine, it does leave a wine-like aftertaste in your mouth at certain temperatures. This truly is an elegant and delicious cup that I suspect that wine lovers and tea lovers alike would enjoy.

If you are looking for something with a nice splash of grape and some floral notes, then I would suggest picking up some of this Pink Sonoma. While my personal favorite remains the Champagne Infused blend, I would bet that a number of folks would prefer this quieter, gentler version. However, I would warn not to order this expecting a white wine flavored tea because this doesn't exactly deliver that. That said, if you like grapes and some subtle wine nuances, then I do not think that you can go wrong here. Sadly, at the time of this review, Red Leaf Tea has changed their free shipping on orders of any size to free shipping on orders over $40. I hope that they change it back!
