"A cloud dispersing botanical blend of finest green tea, wild strawberries, elderberries, black currants, hibiscus flowers and the tropical tangy sweet flavor of ripe kiwi offers the tranquility of a secluded island hideaway." ---Zhena's Gypsy Tea website.Zhena's Gypsy Tea is known for doing some pretty decent 'bagged' tea blends. Unfortunately, I don't count this Strawberry Kiwi blend amongst her finer offerings. I attempted to prepare this blend a number of different times trying to find the best brewing parameter. Basically, this tea tastes the best with water about 175-180 degrees and a very short 1.5 min infusion. The problem with that is the cup really just tastes like strawberry flavored water. Mind you, the strawberry is a delicious flavor at that point, but the green tea is no where to be found. Once you cross into a 2 min+ infusion time, you can find the green tea, but it is an extremely bitter and vegetal cup. Bottom line, the green tea used in this is probably not of a good quality and extremely finicky. Once this bitters, forget about any redeeming strawberry flavor because it masked by bitterness. I never picked up on any kiwi flavor in this. However, that is minor compared to the issues with the green tea. I could have overlooked the relative lack of kiwi if this were an amazing strawberry green tea blend, which it was not. Overall, I was disappointed with this blend and cannot recommend it.
