Scott’s Teaview Snapshot
"A deliciously eye-opening blend of raspberry, lemon, and mate that makes a great wake-me-up cup."

According to their website, www.teavana.com, "Get all-day energy from the invigorating fusion of tart raspberry and lemon, with a high-octane jolt of pure Argentinean Mate. The brisk lemon and tangy raspberry give this green Mate the character and flavor you're craving."I really like mate. A South American beverage that I was introduced to by an Argentinian friend, it has always held a special place in my heart. It is like a green tea in its vegetable taste but it's so much more. It has delicious a delicious roasty taste and enough caffeine to keep me going all day. Thus, when I saw that there was a raspberry lemon mate, I had to try it. Their site recommends an infusion of 5-6 minutes but if you ever steep mate for that long, you'll end up with an incredibly bitter brew as all of the caffeine washes off. So I decided to go for a more tame infusion of 2 and 2.5 minutes at 208F water. I'll only put up the first infusion as the second was exactly the same as the first.
Steep 1: Pours into the tasting cup a deep ruby red, almost crimson. The smell is exactly what the name proclaims: strong, fresh raspberry with an underlying citrus smell. Some sweetness as well. The taste is very, very good. The raspberry is the most prominent but there is a citrus/lemon undercurrent that runs throughout the tea and provides a very nice sour citrus bite. And it's got caffeine to boot.
The tea was very, very good. I really enjoyed it and it packed a caffeine wallop that I appreciated heartily. While I was somewhat disappointed that the mate that I do so love was too faint to push past the assertive flavors of the raspberry and lemon, it was still an excellent cup of tea that I will be stocking from now on.
