viconykeemunsomethingelseI honestly can't recall the last time I drank a Keemun tea, and I really feel kind of bad about that now! When it comes to black tea, it seems that Keemun got cast in the shadows while I was busy overdosing on Yunnans with the occasional hit from a nice Assam. I was fortunate today to be able to sample Vicony Tea's Keemun Hao Ya A. This was my first experience with Vicony Tea, and also was a much needed Keemun refresher, reminding me that Keemun teas can be delicious too. The dried blend has the typical black tea appearance and texture: crunchy leaves that are thin and wiry. The leaves have a heavy aroma that is a combination of malty, cocoa, and smoky. I infused a teaspoon of leaves in 8 ounces of water for 3 minutes, producing a rich burgundy-colored liquid. The tea offered a wonderfully robust flavor. The Vicony tea refers to a biscuity fragrance, and I think that this biscuit-like quality does actually come through in the flavor. I also picked up smoky and malty notes, followed by much more subtle cocoa and fruit notes. This was a fairly complex flavor profile. The tea was not astringent and did have its own gentle sweetness. I found this tea to be a delicious self-drinker, but being a strong-bodied tea with substantial flavor, I imagine this one will take milk and sugar without a problem. Although this is a robust tea, I didn't find it to be heavy-feeling on the mouth. In all, this tea renewed my interest in Keemun teas. I would recommend this tea to anyone looking for a high-quality black tea, or a Keemun in particular. I will note, however, that it seems, at least from the Vicony website, that Vicony is a tea wholesaler, so you would have to locate tea retailers in your area that offer their products.

    Vanessa:

Thank you for your reviews on ViconyTeas’ Keemun Tea.

I am Richard Zhang, Sales Manager of ViconyTeas. We are glad that you appreciated our tea and noticed something special about it. In fact, this time, we only selected two of our keemun series, Hao Ya A and Hao Ya B. The reason for only selecting them is that we thought they were both medium-priced and suitable for peoples’ daily drinking.

In the next step, we planned to send you more teas for review, among them would include several top keemun tea, such as best keemun mao feng, keemun pine needle and keemun aromatic snail. They are all totally hand-made by our veteran tea masters of the best raw materials. They of course will be much expensive than keemun hao ya a and ha ya b. We thought they were fantastic and they would amaze you.

    Thanks
