BourgeaTEA uniquely describes this tea as having a distinct rose flavor with a hint of cherry. I couldn't tell that from the scent of the dry presentation. The leafy fragrance was all candy; cherry fruit bar-ish. On first appearance, though, I thought I saw rose petals among the green tea and pink sakura. I wish I knew for sure, but the product description lacked an ingredients list. I am grateful that they mentioned this was a Chinese sencha-styled green. I tend to prefer them to Japanese ones. I know, heresy.Brewing instructions were also not present on the site. Since it was a sencha, I went with a lighter temp and steep time; 1 tsp in 8oz of 165F for two-minutes-thirty. I thought that'd be enough to bring out the floral/fruity notes without spinaching the green base. I wasn't too worried, though. Chinese senchas tend to be more durable.
The infusion colored a little bit. There was a green hint to the water, but difficult to make out unless reflecting on a white surface. The aroma was as sweet as the dry form. I was hungry for a Twizzler after smelling. It lost some of that fruit punch in the taste, however. Thankfully, some of the natural berry notes of the sencha picked up the slack. What resulted was a symbiosis of fruit-sweet flavors. As per usual, one could sweeten this, but I don't see the point. It's excellent on its own.
I really don't have much else to say. It rocked. And, now, I must find my socks.
