Mark T. Wendell is a company that really focuses on importing high quality teas from around the world. They have some of the most unique teas that you just don't see elsewhere. I was impressed that, though they have one page dedicated to flavored teas, the majority of their offerings focus on specialized individual pure teas. I have never seen such a variety offered in green, white or oolong tea all in one place! Most companies specialize in their blends. Mark T. Wendell specializes in importing the best tea!

Not having ever experienced tea from Mark T. Wendell, I received a sample of their Indonesian Black Tea. I love many varieties of tea, but black tea is my morning staple. I brew a full pot and I have become a bit picky about my morning black tea.

I decided to give this tea a try as my "morning pot of tea". The leaves smelled fresh and are very dark and medium small pieces. I brewed the tea in the pot with an infuser using about 2 3/4 tsp of tea and fresh water that had just begun to boil. I brewed it only 5 min.

I was met with a nice smell as I poured my first cup. As I always do, I poured in the milk and thought it looked like it might be a little "weak" for my taste. I was wrong! This tea has the purest, freshest flavor I have ever tasted in a black tea!

So often, I can define a undertone flavor - some are more spicy or floral. Some have an aftertaste of chocolate or even honey. But I struggle in finding words to describe the flavor of this tea. It is not smokey, and it is not malty. It is not astringent and is so smooth on the tongue. It is to tea, what fresh spring water is to stale tap water. Fresh... pure... smooth... mild, yet strong enough for my taste!

One thing I did learn is that this tea does not want to be "stewed" - or brewed longer than five minutes. I did make that mistake and I lost some of the purity and it did take on some bitter taste... my mistake.

I have found, now that I am out of this tea, I wake up every morning craving a pot of it! This is definitely on my list of top favorites.

Visit Mark T. Wendell Teas for more information on this tea and many more from their extensive product catalogue.
