Imagine taking tea, and introducing it to a college campus and even transforming many students from coffee drinkers into tea connoisseurs! These guys must be passionate about their tea.
BougeaTEA Masala Chai was no disappointment! When I read their description of choosing a strong bodied Ceylon tea for the base of this chai, I was excited to try it. A good solid tea base is so important to me, no matter what the flavor!
When I opened my packet of tea, my nose was met with wonderful spices - especially cardamon! But as I spooned the tea out, I saw large pieces of spices including dried ginger along with the large dark Ceylon leaves. BourgeaTea seems to have perfected a "pretty" tea in addition to quality tea!
I brewed this as I would any black tea - with fresh water that had just come to boil. I let it brew 5 min and removed the strainer. The tea was dark and full bodied as the description said. I added a bit of honey, which I love to have in my chai tea, and a touch of half and half and a little milk.
The scents were wonderfully mixed - spicy and clear. But happily, I also had a lovely strong bodied cup of Ceylon mixed with the spices! Ah... nothing could be finer than a cup of chai tea with the perfect balance of spice and tea. Tea that doesn't cover up the spice, and spice that doesn't cover up the tea!
I also really appreciated the large amount of cardamon and ginger that I could taste along with cloves and cinnamon. Many chai teas feel they have done their duty if they add a bit of cinnamon - but the ginger gives it a gentle bite, and the cardamon makes it taste so exotic.
Once again - I am pleased to say that BourgeaTEA has created a fantastic blend! Bravo!
