Jing's Yellow Gold Oolong (also called Huang Jin Gui) is a hand rolled oolong, tightly balled, with a green and toasty scent. I used a teaspoon of leaf to 8 ounces of water at about 195 degrees. I steeped for 3 minutes before pouring. The color of the brewed tea attracted my interest right away. The liquor is beautiful - definitely green gold, in fact so right in the middle that there seem to be equal parts of green and gold. The color has a gorgeous and eyebrow raisingly improbable glow that is somewhat reminiscent of a sencha and always thrills me. There is a slight green sharpness to the edges of the roasty green scent.

This oolong is definitely a greener one, with a sweet and green flavor with vegetal and ever so slightly olive-oily notes prominent. I found the tea much like a sencha (only, of course, quite different as well!) - fresh, green and sweet, but with a creaminess that developed tremendously as the tea cooled a bit in the mug. The finish of the tea was spectacular, with a feeling in the mouth like a fresh and tasty dipping olive oil. As the buttery notes develop, the likeness to a sencha falls away as well.

I found this to be a really unique oolong. The fabulous color of the liquor will entice you along with the scent, and the flavor follows through, making this tea a delight from start to finish. The tea is sweetly vegetal, with a toasty/roasted flavor of the processing peeking through and an incredibly full body and silky effect in the mouth that is savory and delicious.

I would definitely recommend this tea as it's quite delicious!!
