Once again, the Davidson's Tea website has proven to be awkwardly arranged. When I started brewing my sample of their Seeyok First Flush Darjeeling, I went online to their website to try to find more information on this particular tea. Their website is arranged with the most unintuitive categories and I have to admit almost total failure at being able to navigate to the page I was interested in finding. Finally, after no less than seven minutes of clicking random links, I stumbled upon the description of Seeyok First Flush Darjeeling, which is very brief: "Golden leaf, rich brown color and flavor with slight floral uplift.". The dry leaves are a pleasant mix of browns, blacks, and greens. The dry leaf smells like a nice balance of black and green tea aromas. I prepared two different cups of this tea, using different amounts of leaves. Both cups proved to be highly delicious. This tea is a great example of why Darjeeling tea is often called 'the champagne of teas'. The flavor is smooth with a subtle green crispness. I have found that some first flush Darjeelings are very "green" in flavor, but this offering is a perfect balance of black and green flavors. As I mentioned earlier, I experimented with different leaf volumes. This tea does not seem finicky, as both were prefectly drinkable. The first cup, which used a smaller amount of leaves, was, as can be expected, a little more dilute and I noticed a fruity flavor, probably most comparable to raisins. The second cup, which used more leaves, had a stronger body and I also picked up on subtle smoky notes. Either way, I enjoyed this tea. This is a tea I would drink on a routine basis, and this is one I would recommend to others without hesitation. If you are in the market for a first flush Darjeeling, this is definitely one you should consider. Lastly, I should note that this tea, like all of Davidson's teas, is organic, giving you one more thing to feel good about while drinking a delicious cup!
