Tealish, a modern tea boutique, was started in 2005 with the intention of changing peoples perception of tea from the boring teabags we all grew up with. We wanted to show people how incredibly fun, delicious, healthy and amazing premium loose leaf tea is.

This lovely tea "boutique" is Canadian, and I really enjoyed browsing the wide variety of teas and tea ware they have for sale on their website!

I was sent a sample of "Queen West Blend" which is named after a neighborhood in Toronto. It's black tea, flavored with a large variety of fruits and flower petals.

I must say that the sample I received did not look like the picture on their website, but sometimes sample scoops don't catch all the pieces in a blend like this. It was very pretty though, with dark tea leaves and petals. It smells like a delicious fruity chocolate truffle!

Here is how Tealish describes this tea:
A cheerful black tea blend with loads of colourful ingredients! Blueberries, cherries, raspberries, oranges, blackberries and cranberries are combined with blossoms for a taste that is as unique as Toronto’s Queen West neighbourhood, home of Tealish. A fruity black tea with a smooth finish.

I didn't see any of the fruits in my sample bag, and I wouldn't say it has a smooth finish... but more of a gritty chocolately one! That's not a put down... I enjoy the texture of good chocolate in my mouth, and the feel of the tea was very similar.

Their brewing instructions suggest 2-5 min. I tried both 3 min and 5 and preferred 5 min. It brews up dark and continues to taste like a chocolate truffle.

I found that I preferred to add milk for the creaminess, but one could go with or without sugar in this one! In fact, I found a touch of honey to be very pleasing.

"Queen West Blend" is a nice full textured tea - and really reminds me of a fruity dark chocolate truffle. A very satisfying, low calorie treat in the afternoon!

I am baffled. It doesn’t mention chocolate and no fruit. Did they send you the wrong sample perhaps?

Interesting possibility Shaiha! It did have the flower petals – and a fruity taste – but no fruit pieces at all. The chocolate comparison was not as much flavor as texture aftertaste – though it did remind me a little of a dark chocolate fruit truffle. Wrong sample? I don’t know…maybe???
