The scent of this tea is warm and hearty. I couldn't wait to brew this blend. I used 200-degree water and a 5 minute infusion time, as recommended. The tea brews to an intense reddish-brown color. The tea has a rich and smooth flavor. The coconut, fennel, and figs combine to form a sweet and hearty flavor that is the essence of this tea, but the pu-er gives the tea earthy udnertones. Thanfully, the earthy character of the pu-er is comparatively mild; it does not overpower the tea and is well-balanced by the other ingredients.
Whether you normally like pu-er or not, this tea is worth trying. The combination of a milder pu-er with a truly unique and captivating blend of fruits and herbs makes this tea a true winner and the best tea I have sampled in a very long time. I can't wait to brew a fresh cup of this tomorrow morning.
This tea truly needs nothing added, but if you feel so inclined, it does handle dairy and/or sweetener well. I experimented with a drop of agave nectar and a splash of cream, which turned this sturdy blacke tea into a decadent dessert-style beverage that was out-of-this-world delicious. This is a tea I intend to purchase.
