Snow Day Blend is my first experience with Friday Afternoon Teas, and I must say that so far I am impressed. The Snow Day Blend is a mix of Ceylon black tea with chocolate, cinnamon, and hazelnut. When I think of the flavors that would warm me up on a cold snowy day, the flavors in this tea are some of what comes to mind. This blend was visually impressive, consisting of large leaves and with the presence of huge dark chocolate chunks and large pieces of cinnamon. The aroma is rich and chocolatey, with a pervasivie cherry-like fruity base note. I prepared a cup of this tea using boiling water and steeping the blend for three minutes. The tea that resulted was a medium chestnut brown color and was somewhat cloudy. The flavor is rich and warming, making the name of this tea even more fitting. The chocolate is the primary flavor but the cinnamon and hazelnut lend nice secondary flavors. As with the aroma, I detected an underlying fruitiness, although it was more subtle in the flavor than it was in the aroma. This is a delicious option for a dessert tea, as it is sweet and genuine-tasting. This one could satisfy a dessert craving, for sure. No sugar or milk was needed, although I am sure it would handle either or both without a problem. In all, this was a delicious chocolately tea, and one I would recommend without hesitation.
