If you are a fan of Earl Grey, you must check out Red Leaf Tea! They have a whole collection of Earl Grey flavors! There are so many to choose from... breakfast Earl Grey, Green Earl Grey, Rose Earl Grey and many more!

Ever since I tasted and then purchased Red Leaf Tea's Earl Grey de la Creme, I have been anxious to try the Lavender Earl Grey.

I have learned to love lavender in my tea, and really prefer an Earl Grey with lavender over basic Earl Grey. The bergamot flavor is really enhanced by the addition of lavender and brings a lovely garden summer flavor to the Earl Grey.

However, I have found it difficult to find Lavender Earl Grey that is not overly flavored with the bergamot, and has a nice strong base of black tea. Both bergamot and lavender are heavy flavors, and more often than not, I feel that I can hardly taste the tea behind these flavors.

This was one of the reasons I have enjoyed Red Leaf Tea's Earl Grey de la Creme. It's base is strong enough to carry the bergamot and yet taste like tea! (I do enjoy the addition of the vanilla too.)

So when I received the chance to taste Red Leaf Tea's Lavender Earl Grey, I was excited. I had hopes that they had flavored this tea with a good strong tea base just as they had the Earl Grey de la Creme.

When I opened my samples of tea, the bergamot was extremely strong in it's scent, which made me a bit nervous. But the leaves were lovely and dark and I could also see and smell the lavender, so I hoped the flavor would be more balanced than the smell.

It was! My first brew of Red Leaf's Lavender Earl Grey convinced me that they were not just "lucky" in their flavoring of Earl Grey de la Creme! They have chosen a great base for the Lavender Earl Grey. Though it smells very strong, after steeping the tea is not over the top in bergamot flavor, and the lavender is a perfect balance!

This tea is a bit sharp when drunk black, due to the lavender. But add a bit of milk and it becomes smooth and perfectly scented! I feel as if I could be sipping tea in my garden - while snow lays on the ground!

This is a great tea, and is by far the best Lavender I have tasted yet!
