|"Smooth and excellent sweetened or not, this is an easy to enjoy tea with great citrus flavor and a little bit of smokiness to boot. A smooth combination!!
For preparation I used a teaspoon of leaf (approximately - the leaves are hard to fit in a teaspoon!) to 8 ounces of water and steeped four minutes using freshly boiled water allowed to cool for a minute. This tea brews to a richly dark cup with a lightly sweet and orange flavor. The light smoking of the tea leaf makes for an excellent coupling of flavors and adds wonderful depth. The smokiness emerges in taste as a subtle component, pretty well merged with the orange and very well matched. I enjoyed this tea on its own, sans sweetener as the leaf will carry you with good flavor, but I did enjoy this even more with a bit of sweetener. It's a good strong cup of tea that isn't compromised by bitter or sour notes, the smokiness is well done and won't bowl you over with an early morning campfire experience. I enjoyed this cup equally with a freshly made raisin toast for breakfast (mmmm!) as I did as an afternoon pick me up (luxuriously paired with Valerie Confections Tangier Tea Bark, a chocolate confection also sold through ATR).
