I was introduced to Tea District through a friend who purchased a Groupon for me as a gift. I'd never heard of Tea Destrict, and now I'm pleased to introduce them to you!

Tea District is a tea company that started in 2005. They aim to be "committed to fostering the world's best premium teas bestowing a fascinating customer experience to ensure a loyalty to our brand and provide growth from its quality and knowledge of tea." They support several charities and I had a lot of fun perusing their large inventory of uniquely blended teas.

One of the teas I chose to purchase was their Vanilla Coconut Black Tea. I love vanilla teas, and I have had several coconut teas I liked as well. So the blend of flavors intrigued me.

The tea is well packaged - sealed in a dark bag and packaged well for delivery. Included in my box was a colorful tea guide for brewing each of their teas!

When I opened it, the coconut smell was strong... very strong! I could also smell the vanilla in the background. The teas is dark large leaves, with long thin strands of coconut. I followed the instructions sent to me for brewing and used 1 tsp per 8 oz of boiling water and let it steep 5 min. I found this to be a bit too weak and I prefer this tea steeped at 6-7 min. It doesn't get bitter with a 7 minute steep.

They don't tell what type of black tea they use. But it makes a nice cup - not super strong, but full bodied enough that you can add milk if you like. It's so flavorful that you don't need sugar, unless you want to bring out the coconut and vanilla even more.

The flavor is quite toned down from the initial smell. The coconut and vanilla blend well with black tea and create a wonderfully tropical tea. Several reviewers on the website say that the coconut is not to strong and the vanilla is the stronger flavor. I differ in that opinion. I feel the coconut is the dominant flavor and the vanilla is in the background.

For my taste, the black tea could be a bit stronger as I don't like flavors to overtake the tea. But I have found this a very enjoyable early afternoon tea! Drink it while watching LOST and it takes to the Island!

I look forward to trying more teas from Tea District!
