Thumbs up!"This tea has the taste of a rich, unsweetened dark chocolate with the orange brightening up the flavor. This is a heavier tea that tastes good straight or if you are feeling more in a milk chocolate mood, it stands up well to cream and sugar."

One of my favorite parts of reviewing teas is discovering new, at least to me, vendors. Ovation Tea is one that I hadn't heard of but I happily went wandering around their site. And I have to admit that I was impressed. The site is well organized, the search engine very responsive and the prices are very reasonable. You can even create your own blends. I will admit that I added more then a few teas to my wishlist.

Now on to the sample. I do love a good chocolate tea if it is done right. But as to be done right...well it is a hit or miss with me. The dry aroma of this tea really indicated a hit. It reminds me of those chocolate covered orange slices that you can find around the holidays. And I have to admit a weakness for them.

Ovation Teas does a great job of printing brewing suggestions right on the bag though my eyebrows went up a bit seeing that two tablespoons of blend is recommended for each cup of water with a steep time between 5 to 6 minutes. I was worried about the black tea turning bitter but I decided not to be a rebel and did as directed.

The resulting liquor is a rich reddish brown and the aroma of oranges wafts up from the cup as you pour. And I am very glad I did follow the directions this time. This tea has the taste of a rich, unsweetened dark chocolate with the orange brightening up the flavor. This is a heavier tea that tastes good straight or if you are feeling more in a milk chocolate mood, it stands up well to cream and sugar.

One of the best chocolate teas that I have ran across. And not just for after dinner. The black tea certainly adds in a caffeine kick. This blend is already on my wishlist.

    Hi Shaiha,
We are so grateful that you took the time to review our tea and are thrilled that you enjoyed it! Just wanted to note that our instructions call for 2 teaspoons of our flavored blends, though we are certainly glad that the flavors were so enjoyable with a stronger brew 🙂 Perhaps we need to avoid abbreviations in our instructions… we have taken note and will work to improve our communication!
    Thanks again,
    Melanie

Ooops. That was my error. I did use 2 teaspoons to a cup. I am sorry that I didn’t catch that oops.
