Vanessa’s Teaview Snapshot

Once again, I find myself stumbling in frustration over the format and layout of the Empire Tea Services website. Although in theory it should not be a difficult task for me to find information about Cinnamon Orange Spice on the Empire Tea Services page, yet, as with my last review of one of their products, I am unable to successfully achieve this task. I proceeded with reviewing the tea, assuming that this tea doesn't stray from the typical cinnamon orange spice offerings that I have sampled in the past. The blend consists of dark and thin tea leaves with generous amounts of both orange peel and cinnamon present. The aroma is rich and heavy, and instantly evokes images of Christmas and cold, wintery nights. I started thinking that given the heavy presence of warm spice notes, that this tea may be better suited for winter season sipping, however I proceeded to brew myself a cup of this in mid-August, on one of the hottest days of the year. To my surprise, and pleasure, this tea offers a genuine cinnamon-orange flavor, but the flavor is not nearly as heavy as the aroma of the dry leaves would suggest. The cinnamon is foremost on the tongue, but the orange also comes through as a strong supporting flavor. When it comes to the aftertaste, however, it is entirely cinnamon, providing a fresh and strong zing. The tea base itself is rather light-bodied for a black tea, which must certainly help in keeping the tea from feeling too heavy and filling. Overall, I enjoyed this tea because I found the flavors to be natural and the relative lightness of this brew (when compared to other similarly flavored teas) to be refreshing. This is a well-blended tea and one I would recommend.
