My sample from this time around is Romanoff. I would have skipped over this blend because it is considered an Earl Grey tea variation. Though come to think of it, I have liked a couple of their variations. Romanoff consists of a smoked organic chinese black tea and blood oranges. I wasn't able to pick up much smokiness in the aroma which I was rather glad off. What really stands out is the scent of blood oranges. All sweet, tangy, fresh and oh so mouthwatering.
I set up 4 tablespoons of leaves to four cups of water. Using the black tea setting, I let it steep for four minutes. It brews up into a goldish brown in color. The aroma of the oranges greet me as I go to take a sip. Now I am able to pick up a bit more smokiness.
This is one of the best orange teas I have tried. The taste of the blood oranges is true with the smokiness really acting as a supporting role and mellows out the tartness. I don't see there being enough smokey taste for someone looking for it but I found it to be perfect. There is a lingering hint of citrus on the roof of my mouth. Very tasty. I really appreciated the lack of spices which really made the orange stand out. I can see this being another tea that is going to start hitting my cart.
