Thumbs up!"The tea is bold in its flavor, but it is not heavy. This tea is not as brisk or crisp as other Darjeelings I have sampled and seems to align more with second flush Darjeeling flavor than with the crisp, greenish flavors often found in first-flushes."

Golden Tips Tea company continues to impress me with their variety of tea products. I recently sampled their Queen of Hills tea which is a blend of leaves from different Darjeeling estates. The dry leaves are very Darjeeling-esque in appearance, with various shades of brown, green and black speckled in the mix. The aroma of this tea is distinctively black, and is somewhat brisk.
I prepared my sample using boiling water and a three minute steeping. The prepared tea is a reddish-brown translucent color with a noticeably sweet (think honey) aroma. The tea is bold in its flavor, but it is not heavy. This tea is not as brisk or crisp as other Darjeelings I have sampled and seems to align more with second flush Darjeeling flavor than with the crisp, greenish flavors often found in first-flushes. The flavor has caramel and malty sweetness and, overall, is very pleasing. Even though the tea has a natural sweetness about it, it is not something I would describe as being overly sweet; that is, the sweetness is perfectly subtle. This would be a good tea recommendation for anyone wanting t transition from lower quality teabags to loose leaf tea.
