First, a sidebar: I first tried this tea cold-brewed because it was within arm's reach when I decided I wanted some cold-brewed tea for work the next day. I had already put in some genmaicha, then realising I didn't have enough, threw in some of this. It was brilliant! It was fantastic blended with the genmaicha, but I imagine that alone it would be equally as fantastic.

Brewed at 190° for three minutes. It has a hay-like herbal flavour with strong overtones of muscatel. It's bright and spritely with a medium body. The subtle smokiness is mostly in the aftertaste. Smooth and somewhat sweet, this is dangerously easy to drink.

My second steep is somewhat bitter and very mild. It's a bit of a let-down, but worth the second steep if you want to stretch the leaf. But when you consider just the first steep, this tea has everything I want in a first flush Darjeeling and nothing I don't. I'd definitely buy it and definitely love it.

Visit Mark T. Wendell Teas for more information on this tea and many more from their extensive product catalogue.
