When I recently purchased my new Breville One-Touch Tea-maker, American Tea Room (ATR) was kind enough to include some samples. Now I always love it when I get samples from them as a lot of the time they end up being my new favorite teas. One of them that was included this time was Calypso which is a blend of Chinese black tea, coconut and pineapple which are all organic. Just opening up the package was enough to bring a smile to my face. The scents is purely tropical with the pineapple playing a leading role and the coconut being a great supporting player.

Following the instructions on the sample package, I set up my Breville using 5 teaspoons of the blend, a water temperature of 185 degrees and a steep time of 4.5 minutes. It brews up to a rich golden brown liquor with the aroma of toasted coconut and pineapple. Tropics here I come!

And the taste plays true to the aroma. The taste of the tea itself doesn't come out to play much other then being a very smooth base for the sweet tartness of the pineapple and the creaminess of the coconut. And I just love the lingering aftertaste of the pineapple. Makes for a very tasty hot cup of tea and I would be willing to bet that it is even better iced which I would check out if it wasn't so cold and rainy.

ATR has done it again. This is one sample I will be keeping around and will be purchasing more on my next order. I always amazes me at just how good they are at pegging my tastes.
