Oolong Tea, Rare Tea Republic Add comments"A truly delicious and unusual oolong."

One of my favorite parts of reviewing teas is the opportunity to review some that I probably wouldn't have come across on my own. I also get to check out vendors that wouldn't have passed onto my radar. Rare Tea Republic is one of the those vendors. They don't carry a lot of teas but what they do carry is top drawer. This particular oolong fits that description to the tee. The leaves are light green and loosely rolled. The aroma bursting forth from my sample bag is a honeyed sweetness that reminds me strongly of lily of the valley. Since that is one of my favorite flowers I was automatically predisposed to love this tea.
My sample was six grams and I used the entire sample to brew up a pot of tea using the recommended 190 degree water and a steep time of 4 minutes. The liquor brews up into a rich darker gold with just a hint of pumpkin. The sweetness of the dry sample carries on in the liquor.
As far as the taste, it is very smooth with a well rounded mouthfeel. The best description of the taste is that of the nectar of flowers with just a hint of dryness at the end of each sip. Yes it is really that sweet and honeyed. Makes for a truly delicious and unusual oolong. I highly recommend it.
