Jack Frost is a unique blend of black and oolong tea, roasted mate, chestnut flavoring, and almonds. The combination of oolong and black tea seemed pretty interesting, so that alone had me curious about this tea. The blend seems to have a nice balance of the different ingredients. The black and oolong leaves seem fairly even in their contribution to the tea, and there is plenty of mate and ample almonds in my sample. The dry blend smells sweet and nutty, almost chocolaty. I brewed the tea in boiling water for three minutes. It didn't take very long for me to realize that this tea is a winner. The flavors of hazelnuts and almonds come across quite well, although I was pleased to see that the hazelnut was not too intense (a problem I have observed with other hazelnut teas). The hazelnut is more noticeable than the almond, but both are easily tasted. The tea base, particularly the oolong and mate components, is well-matched with the nutty flavors. This tea was not too heavy, but it did work well as a sturdy morning brew. Unlike other nut-flavored teas I have sampled, I found no need to add anything to this tea, as it was tasty and plenty sweet on its own. I later tried this tea as an iced tea, and while it was certainly drinkable, I did find that the flavors in this tea seem better suited for a hot beverage. This tea is delicious and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a bold nutty tea.
