Thumbs up!"Sometimes the flavors added to the tea completely mask the tea itself, but that is not the case here. Floral, malty, and sweet flavors from the tea itself are readily available, and are well complemented by soft fruit flavors. "

culinaryladylondonberryDespite the fact that I have reviewed hundreds of teas and really shouldn't have to "gamble" by buying teas that I haven't tasted. But Lady Londonderry was featured in a Culinary Teas email newsletter, and it sounded good enough that I decided to go ahead and purchase this, as well as several other new-to-me teas. I am really glad that this blend made it into my purchase. This tea contains a blend of Ceylon and Assam teas, along with strawberry and lemon flavors. I love flavored black teas, yet I always seem to go for the sweet and candy-like flavors instead of the fruit flavors. Also, I've had some less-than-stellar experiences with lemon flavored tea so I wasn't sure if this tea would be any better (luckily, it is). The tea has a sweet and refreshing aroma that makes you want to keep sniffing it. I steeped the leaves in boiling water for three minutes. The infusion is a pleasant coppery-brown color, not too dark and pretty transparent. This is a medium-bodied tea that offers a wonderful balance of tea and fruit flavors. Sometimes the flavors added to the tea completely mask the tea itself, but that is not the case here. Floral, malty, and sweet flavors from the tea itself are readily available, and are well complemented by soft fruit flavors. Specific strawberry and lemon flavors may not be identifiable, but there is an overall fruity flavor that is pleasing and refreshing. This tea is sweet and needs nothing added to make it an enjoyable cuppa, but it is sturdy enough that if you wanted to add milk and/or sugar, it could certainly hold up to it. This was a soothing hot tea, and also a refreshing iced tea, so all around, it is a delicious offering and a wise purchase.
