|"Great to wake up to. Brisk and sweet. Proceeds support anti-poverty efforts in Bangladesh."|
Named after the district in which their garden is situation, (Tetulia,) Teatulia's garden is only one of about 150 tea gardens in Bangladesh. As far as I could tell, it the only organic tea garden in the country. The owners strive to improve the land and the lives of residents in an area that struggles with poverty, disease and malnutrition. Having never been to Bangladesh, I'm sure I could not even begin to describe the difficulties its people face. But I'm happy to know that Teatulia is at work over there, and I am happy to support them through drinking their tea.
Now, about their tea...Bengal Breakfast is everything I would want for my first drink of the day. It smells fresh and brisk. It is malty and pairs well with toast and sausage, but it finishes with a tartness that refreshes. I brewed one teaspoon per 8 ounces of boiling water for about 4 minutes. My 6-cup Brown Betty was empty in no time. This tea goes down easy! Plus, it has a cheery package with a yellow label that says "Let the Sun Shine."
Life's simple pleasures are indeed the best. I rank Teatulia's Bengal Breakfast among them. I rate it a 9.
