This rooibos blend simply sounded good to me. I didn't read about it ahead of time, but I liked the title. I suppose it might be a good idea to choose a tisane based on something more substantial than the title, but I took a chance and I don't seem to be any the worse for it. Rooibos blends are generally good choices for me and I often enjoy them simply because they are a sweet and caffeine free way to close the evening down and get me ready for sleep.

This particular blend I just went ahead and brewed, again without reading anything about it. I mention this because I somewhat missed and somewhat pegged the flavors denoted in the brief description at Dream Tea Boutique's website. The blend is supposed to taste of strawberries and cream. What I got was a strongly vanilla smoothness with a mellow, fruity sweetness that reminded me of both chamomile and fruit, but not overly of either. And did I mention that the blend smelled of root beer to me somehow?

The blend has some chamomile and other cut petals in it, but is otherwise a standard looking rooibos. Scent wise, The cola/root beer scent was pretty inviting, if not wholly expected after spying the chamomile in the blend. I infused a heaping teaspoon of leaf in 8 ounces of freshly boiled water and steeped for 5 minutes.

The color of this tisane when brewed is really beautiful. It's dark copper with a radiant halo of glowing gold all around the rim of the mug. The flavor is creamy sweet with a smooth and rooibos/fruit/floral aftertaste that is very delicious. I loved that this blend had an absence of glaring flavor. There was a lot of flavor, but none of it was gaudy or too showy. Instead, it was sweet and smooth and richly flavored with the taste of the cut leaf. I can see this being an excellent choice for pairing with dessert or enjoying on its own as a sweet but sugar and caffeine free finish to a meal.
