|"There's no sparkle, kick or vivaciousness to the infused leaf."|
I used my typical darjeeling preparation of 1 tsp. per 8 ounces, using 205 degree water and steeping 3 minutes.
The tea is mild and tastes quite flat in terms of flavor. There's no sparkle, kick or vivaciousness to the infused leaf, which is quite surprising to me after the scent of the dry leaf and also in general for a Darjeeling. The depth of body is unimpressive, as well. This is a Darjeeling that begs for sweetener, which I have to count strongly against it. I did in fact add a touch of liquid stevia to the cup to explore it a bit further. While some sweetening undeniably improves the flavor and brings out both the green and muscatel qualities a bit as well as improving the body, I find that this tea in its infused state doesn't come close to the good smell offered by the dry leaf.
I can't recommend this Darjeeling.
