The Puritea's Sencha hails from China rather than Japan. The leaves are jade with slight tanning and are flattened as you would expect in a sencha, as though steam rolled. The leaves are all short to medium in length.

I infused one teaspoon of this leaf per 8 ounces of 185 degree water and infused for three minutes.

The liquor is golden green and the taste of the tea is sweet and toasted with cooked vegetal notes and a light astringent close. The flavor is definitely pan seared. The image of a hot but still dry wok came to mind. There's a slightly metallic, sharp clear flavor to the tea as well, as though it is edged slightly with mineral.

Other notes are that a slightly brothy, buttery quality emerges at the close of the sip...it's a bit pert tasting.

This tea is ok overall. I didn't really find it especially engaging and probably wouldn't choose to drink it again.
