Hari’s Treasure is a company with several product lines, including Hari Crunch (cereals) and two lines of tea – Hari Tea and Shoti Maa. The parent company’s philosophy is to offer healthy and organic foods rooted in Yogic tradition. They even ensure that no glue or metal staples are used in their teabags. I’m unsure of the differentiation in the Shoti Maa teas versus the Hari Tea products, but both seem to offer organic herbal blends.

Talk To Me is a Lavender, Licorice and Mint blend, although this tisane also contains lemon grass, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, black pepper, and cloves. “Wait a minute!”, you say, “that sounds like a Chai Spice tea!” – and by golly, it does sound like that, but yet it does not taste like a traditional Chai Spice at all. The licorice and two mints (two parts peppermint, one part spearmint) are by far the most prominent flavors (and ingredients) here, and as I’m a big fan of those ingredients, I am thoroughly enjoying this herbal drink. The other flavors also come through – the cinnamon, cloves and pepper have a notable astringency that is certainly present. The ginger provides a barely-detectable kick as well.

A five minute infusion with sub-boiling water produces a deep yellow liquor with a potently pleasant aroma and flavor. Sip after sip, the flavor seems to intensify midway through the cup – even after the teabag has been removed. As the cup cools, the flavor profile changes slightly as well. Interesting stuff. Overall, the licorice and mint are soothing, calming, and just downright tasty. As an herbal tisane, this one is currently hitting the spot.
